Algodonales, often shortened to just Algo, is just a 2 hour drive from Málaga airport. The hot scorched landscape can provide hours of XC or thermal ridge flying. The town of Algodonales comes alive in the evening when it feels like everyone in the town comes to eat and drink - but there is room for visitors. The mountain Levante towers over the town and looking up is often rewarded by a view of many vultures. The attraction of Algo is simple - it's easy to get to, the flying is easy and fairly regular, it's relatively cheap (in comparison to much of Europe) and the food and drink is plentiful. Just pick your timing, Aug is too hot, Sep has the best flying but it can get busy.
